INTERNSHIP JOB DESCRIPTION
SOUTHWEST FLORIDA REGION
OFFICE
OF U.S. SENATOR MEL MARTINEZ

Assist the local staff with logistics for
visits to the area by Senator Martinez.

Attend events with the Senator and/or
Regional Director and staff at area events and meetings.
-
Document constituent opinion calls and
record constituent opinion calls in InterTrac, the US Senate internal
database
-
Enter constituent correspondence in
InterTrac
-
Maintain comprehensive contact list of
county commissioners, city managers, sheriffs, republican club leaders
and chamber of commerce members for each county represented by the
Southwest Florida Regional Office.
-
Maintain calendar of standing events in
each county such as, chamber meetings, Republican Party meetings, city
council and county commissioners.
-
Document constituent calls and send
constituents the appropriate paper work.
-
Research and document hot issues which
affect each county in the Southwest Florida Region.
-
Research and document current local,
national and international events and policies which effect Southwest
Florida
-
Read local newspapers to find any events
which would be of interest to the Southwest Florida office.
-
Represent the office at local events
deemed appropriate by the Regional Director.
-
Maintain spreadsheet of business cards
retrieved by Regional Director.
-
Maintain Press Release notebook
-
Provide basic information regarding
current legislation to constituents
-
Maintain and organize files for the
counties in the Southwest Florida region.
