Pamella A. Seay (pronounced "see") is an attorney, licensed to
practice law in Florida and South Carolina, and before the United States
Supreme Court. She is shown above at the Charlotte County (Florida)
Airport in October 2000 with General Norman Schwartzkopf.
In June 2001, she became Florida Bar Board Certified in International
Law. In the summer of 2001, Prof. Seay traveled to Morocco and
Tunisia under the US Department of Education Fulbright Foundation
"Fulbright-Hays Seminar Abroad." Her experience there has
resulted in the development of a new course at FGCU titled
"Globalization and the Rule of Law." This course is slated
to be taught for the first time in 2002-03 Academic Year.
She serves as Chair of the Division of Justice Studies, which houses
the Criminal Justice and Legal Studies programs at FGCU. In addition
to her administrative role, she also teaches courses including Comparative
Justice, Courts and Legal Issues, Comparative Criminal Justice Systems,
and the university's longest-standing international study tour. Each May,
she takes students to China to study the criminal justice system.
Prof. Seay is a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of
Law where she earned her JD, and was a member of Law Review. Since 1997,
she has been a certified mediator and arbitrator in Florida and South
Carolina. Her law practice includes international law and local government
law.
Prof. Seay earned her BFA in Graphic Design from the Kendall School of
Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Prof. Seay has previously taught
at the University of South Carolina, Edison Community College, Midlands
Technical College, the Center for Creative Studies (Detroit), and the
Kendall School of Design.
Prof. Seay's involvement in the community extends far beyond the
university setting. In 2000, she was elected to a second 4 year term on
the Charlotte County Airport Authority. She is a member of the Board
of Directors for the Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda, and
is a member of the board of the FGCU Center for Assisted Living
Innovations (CALI). She has served on the Florida Bar Standing
Committee on Professional Ethics since 1998.
Prof. Seay's book, Foreign Business in South Carolina: A Legal Overview
won an award as one of the Ten Best Publications in South Carolina for
1992. She has published in the South Carolina Law Review, Forum Magazine,
and other publications. Her most recent publications include
"China by Internet" which appeared in the international journal
"Education About Asia," and a published project for the
Fulbright Foundation on globalization.
In her spare time Prof. Seay enjoys drawing, painting, boating on
Charlotte Harbor, fishing in Alligator Creek, and traveling to as many
exotic and faraway places as possible.
Prof. Seay is a founding faculty member of the College of Professional
Studies, having begun with the university in 1997 as Internship and Field
Coordinator for the Criminal Justice Division. She currently serves
as the chair of the FGCU Student Code of Conduct Committee and chair of
the EEO/Diversity Committee at the university. |
