Degree Requirements
The requirements of the PGM Program at FGCU can be divided into three key areas: the university component; the PGA component; and the internship component.
Students graduating from the PGM Program will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Resort & Hospitality Management with a concentration in Professional Golf Management. Some of the golf specific courses you will take as an upper-level student in the program will include: Turfgrass Management, Golf Facility Operations, Advanced Golf Merchandising Operations, Director of Golf Instructional Operations, Golf Course Ownership, and Golf Executive Management to name a few. Please see "Curriculum".
The PGA component of our program contains all of the necessary requirements to ensure that students are eligible to become Class A PGA Professionals upon graduation. We have designed courses within the curriculum to aid in the completion of the Level 1, 2, and 3 Materials provided by the PGA of America. Before completion of each level, students must pass a checkpoint administered by PGA education staff before moving to the next. The Playing Ability Test is also required and administered by the PGA and must be passed before graduation.
Each student is required to complete 16 months of full-time internships. Internships will be paid and may be done at any golf facility in the U.S. or internationally (assuming you will work under a PGA of America Professional).
