Welcome
Welcome to the Division of Public Affairs at Florida Gulf Coast University. The Division offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and the Masters of Public Administration (MPA) degree. We also offer a Political Science minor.
The BA program in Political Science is designed to provide students with the analytical tools needed to address local, regional, state and national public policy issues, as well as to achieve their career objectives. A degree in Political Science can aid student’s career pursuits in local, state, national, and international government, research, and lobbying for business and non-profit organizations, and public interest work for community service organizations. The degree also provides an excellent foundation for students who intend to pursue graduate study in law, public administration or public policy.
The MPA program is offered largely online to accommodate those students working in the public or non-profit sectors. The program provides concentrations in environmental policy, management, and general public administration.
The program is supported by an active External Relations Council who assist in keeping our courses relevant and important to the community. The MPA program concluded a self-study in August 2007 and will have a site visit in February 2008 as we move toward accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration.
The faculty of the Division of Public Affairs are well grounded in their areas of expertise and fully engaged in the university and the community. The faculty is committed to providing an excellent educational experience and to the success of our students.
I welcome the opportunity to talk with you about our programs and your future at FGCU. Feel free to call at (239) 590-7704 or e-mail at tbusson@fgcu.edu.
